About Me

Geography

My interest in geography began in St. Louis, MO. My first-ever Storymap, "Characteristics of Redlining" details my introduction to the Delmar Divide, which prompted personal research into the history of STL's downtown development.

My first year at the University of New Hampshire (BA Geography and Geospatial Analysis) gave me the opportunity to turn this interest in STL into maps. And from that point on, I was hooked.

School and Scouts

I've excelled in both my academic journey as well as Scouts BSA over the last several years. While holding leadership positions at four different camps, I had the opportunity to learn a tremendous amount about management, conflict resolution, and other skills in leadership.

My GIS career started off steadily at UNH, as I slowly accumulated more and more responsibility within the department. By senior year, I had experience as a recurring GIS teaching assistant and tutor for the Making Maps class, was leading the UNH Geography Club with my good friend, and was well known by all of my professors.

Most of senior year was spent pursuing an independent study of transportation GIS and working as a GIS technician with UNH's Campus Planning department.

These worlds collided when I started at Philmont Scout Ranch as the GIS Coordinator - the perfect way to close out my streak of summer Scouting positions.

Wildcat Transit

In college, when not biking, canoeing, taking photos, or making maps, you'd find me driving a bus.

UNH offers a substantial regional bus service for the campus and surrounding towns. Starting freshman year, I drove the campus connectors and inter-city routes. I was promoted throughout those four years to senior driver (assist in training), and then to dispatcher.

I was able to make use of my GIS skills in the department, processing and preparing Wildcat Transit's Accessible Van data for an interactive web app.

Campus Planning

With UNH Facilities, I got opportunities to work with a plethora of different GIS products. I did some LiDAR scanning using a stationary Trimble unit, and learned a tremendous amount from speaking with sales representatives demonstrating a mobile, hand-held LiDAR unit.

We conducted drone flights, most notably a high-resolution 3D photogrammetry flight of an old, degrading smoke stack.

I was kept busy with various projects, most notably the school's security camera inventory. All of these projects gave me plenty of practice scripting with Python and PowerShell, and got me used to optimizing web maps for ArcGIS Field Maps.

Philmont GIS

I started as GIS Coordinator at Philmont Scout Ranch in May 2026.

I have been leading a team of two analysts in various projects for the ranch, including:

• Overhauling the existing GIS Database

• Tuning ArcGIS Online for large-scale consumption

• Scripting and automation of existing processes

• Advanced network analyses and imagery processing

• Drone flights and creation of orthomosaics

• Data collection and validation

Due to the seasonal nature of the contract, I will be moving on to other opportunities in the Fall, but I am looking forward to maintaining a close relationship with the ranch in the future.
